As I turned 50 last year, I took a moment to reflect on the past half-century of my life. A deep sense of fulfillment washed over me. I felt content, knowing that I could probably spend the next decade or two with minimal stress.
However, a profound realization hit me: How much had I truly accomplished? What had I gained? And most importantly, how happy was I? The answers came to me, revealing a journey marked by countless struggles, setbacks, and rejections.
I found myself incredibly grateful for my body and mind, which had endured so much. While I had always expressed gratitude for my life and the people in it, I had never truly thanked myself. That realization changed everything.
Now, I make it a point to appreciate myself every day. I tell myself, “I am a fantastic and powerful person.” This simple affirmation has boosted my self-esteem and filled me with a profound sense of joy and contentment. It’s a positive vibe that I’ve created for myself.
It may have taken me fifty years to grasp these concepts, but the moment I did, I acted on them. And isn’t that a victory in itself? Finding happiness and living a joyful life is an even greater triumph.
